A Dorchester man is facing multiple charges after leading police in a chase through several towns on Tuesday night.

Keenan Ritter, 26, is charged with failing to stop for police, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a marked lanes violation, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a breakdown lane violation and failure to stop/yield, according to Massachusetts State Police.

He also had five outstanding warrants for offenses like assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, strangulation/suffocation and narcotics crimes.

State police said the pursuit began around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a trooper attempted to stop a car on Route 24 north in Brockton for motor vehicle violations. The vehicle, which had two people inside, did not stop and the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

Police gave chase, and the suspect vehicle eventually got off at Exit 19, looped around and re-entered Route 24 on the southbound side. The vehicle then exited Route 24 and got onto Manley Street in West Bridgewater, where it became disabled.

The driver, later identified as Ritter, tried to run away from the vehicle but was captured. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Ritter is currently being held at the state police barracks in Milton and is scheduled to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court on Wednesday morning.
