Driver Killed in Fiery Crash

Local fire departments responded and found the car engulfed in flames

A driver has been killed in a fiery crash in the town of Canterbury, New Hampshire.

State police say nearby residents who heard the crash Monday night went to the scene and tried to pull the driver out of the car. The vehicle then caught fire, making rescue attempts impossible.

Local fire departments responded and found the car engulfed in flames. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been positively identified.

State police say he lost control of the vehicle, which went off the road and bounced off a tree. The car then went down an embankment and over stone wall, where it caught fire.

Troopers say speed likely was a factor in the crash.

A passenger suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital.
