Tom Brady started in the New England Patriots' AFC Championship game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Number 12 hit the field Sunday afternoon with black tape covering a cut he received during practice earlier this week, replacing a red glove he wore when speaking to reporters on Friday amid speculation as to whether he would play in the title game.
Fans in Gillette Stadium erupted in cheers as he ran onto the field.
ESPN reporter Dianna Russini tweeted Saturday evening that sources told her Brady will start the game. An NFL source said the same to the Boston Globe's Jim McBride Saturday evening as well, adding that Brady's injury has "been getting better each day."
The Patriots' star quarterback suffered a cut to his hand in Wednesday's practice and his participation in Sunday's game was thrown into doubt when he didn't practice on Thursday.
Brady refused to talk about the injury while wearing red gloves during a meeting with reporters on Friday. He would only say "we'll see" when asked if he would play on Sunday.
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Brady is likely to wear the glove during Sunday's game "just to protect the stitches," even though Brady hasn't indicated if he will wear it.
Schefter also cited a source when he reported that Patriots runningback Rex Burkhead will play in Sunday's game despite also being listed as questionable.
For his part, Brady has never sat out a playoff start in his 18 seasons in the NFL. The New England Patriots (14-3) have won five Super Bowl championships with Brady as the quarterback.
The Patriots are favored heavily heading into the team's seventh straight conference title game. Jacksonville (12-6) is trying to earn its first Super Bowl trip.
