Dry and pleasant weather is on tap for today as an area of high pressure moves over New England from the Great Lakes. High temperatures will crest into the upper 60s to low 70s with abundant sunshine.
A warm front approaches New England from the south overnight with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Saturday features rainy and cool weather as a low-pressure system travels south of the region. An ocean flow off of the Gulf of Maine will keep daytime high temperatures in the low to mid-50s. Overall, expect a total of a quarter to half an inch of rainfall during the day with the possibility of over half an inch across western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Snow will mix in across the higher summits of New Hampshire and Vermont. Drier air will work into New England for Mother’s Day on Sunday with morning clouds giving way to sunny breaks by the afternoon. High temperatures will reach into the mid to upper-60s. Developing afternoon sea breezes may keep the coast a bit cooler near 60 degrees.
Looking ahead to next week, morning clouds and showers will give way to dry weather on Monday as the last push of unsettled weather moves offshore. An overall pleasant day on tap with high temperatures reaching into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees near the coast, low to mid-70s inland.
A frontal boundary will begin to set up over or near southern New England on Tuesday, resulting in an increased chance of unsettled weather. For temperatures, a warming trend is ahead with temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 70s into the mid-week as an area of high pressure builds near Bermuda.
