A 29-year-old Florence was killed Friday night when his vehicle crashed on Route 112 in the Western Massachusetts town of Worthington, according to state police.
Troopers from the Russell Barracks responded to the single-vehicle crash at Goss Hill Road at 8:45 p.m. Police believe the driver, identified by police Saturday morning as Matthew Banner, was traveling northbound in a 2018 Ford F-350. Banner lost control of the vehicle, which crashed through a guardrail off to the left side of the roadway near the intersection with Goss Hill Road.
Police said Banner was ejected. His body was found near a body of water known as the Little River. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. State Police were assisted on scene by Worthington, Huntington, and Cummington Fire, and Hilltown Community Ambulance.
