Forcella May Be Opening in Former Carmen Space in Boston's North End

by Marc Hurwitz

A new restaurant may be on its way to the North End, and it would apparently be moving into the space where an upscale Italian spot had been until closing a couple of years ago.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, a dining spot tentatively called Forcella is planning to open at 33 North Square, which is where Carmen was until it shut down in July of 2016. The  notice mentions that the restaurant is seeking a beer, wine, and liqueurs license and that the parent company is Flagship Restaurant Group, LLC. Little other information is available on Forcella, so check back for updates as they come in.

Carmen had been open at North Square for approximately 16 years, offering such items as steamed clams, braised short rib ravioli, baked penne, roasted rack of pork, pan-seared duck breast, and crespelle.
