Former Celtics Player Jabari Bird Admits to Facts in Assault of Ex-Girlfriend

Jabari Bird, 24, was arrested early September of 2018 after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a fight

Former Boston Celtics player Jabari Bird admitted to facts alleged by prosecutors during a court appearance on Monday for a status hearing in his domestic assault case.

The 24-year-old Bird made his appearance in Brookline District Court on a complaint with multiple charges, including strangulation or suffocation, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation.

According to the Boston Globe, the assistant district attorney read an impact statement by the victim, identified only as a former girlfriend, which allegedly described a violent incident on Sept. 7, 2018.

In September, the victim told officials that Bird choked her numerous times over a four-hour period following a fight between the two at his Brighton home.

The judge did not enter a finding of guilt and continued the case to May 28 for disposition. A request for an aid-in-sentencing report from probation officers was also requested.

Bird, who was traded by the Celtics to the Atlanta Hawks in early February, did not comment as he left court.
