At least we started off with some sun Friday morning before the clouds built in ahead of the rain showers that engulfed our Friday afternoon. In the evening, we will start to see the showers wane, reducing to mist later at night, which means the evening commute will be a slow go due to reduced visibility and some ponding.
Overnight, a few showers linger in northern New Hampshire and Maine before this fast-moving system exits. In other areas, drier conditions are expected as the system departs, taking over under mostly to partly cloudy skies with lows near 50 at the immediate coastline, 40s inland.
Saturday brings the warm-up under plentiful sunshine by the afternoon, with highs near 70 south and in the 60s north.
A few instability showers are possible in far northern New England. Otherwise, it's a dry and mild day to start off the weekend.
By Saturday night, a cold front swings in. The leading edge of colder air, clashing with the warmer air, will bring showers with a few downpours late Saturday night into early Sunday. Highs on Sunday only stretch into the upper 50s under mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers. The system that is bringing the rain chances for Sunday lingers into Monday, spurring up clouds, a few showers, and the coldest day of the work week with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Tuesday, we'll see some breaks of sun by the afternoon and highs stretching into the mid to upper 60s with the warm-up continuing through Wednesday and Thursday before a sweeping cold front brings a chance for thunderstorms and cooler conditions late Thursday into early Friday. Highs by Wednesday will be the spring we've been missing with temperatures into the mid to upper 70s, with a few touching 80.
