    Friendly's Closes 5 New England Locations

    After closing a handful of other locations this year, Friendly’s has announced they have closed six other restaurants in the Northeast, including five in New England.

    MassLive reported restaurants were closed days ago in:

     

    • Seekonk, Massachusetts
    • Springfield, Massachusetts (Sumner Avenue)
    • Bennington, Vermont
    • Rutland, Vermont
    • Dover, New Hampshire
    • East Greenbush, New York

    House Democrats are calling for the release of the full report from special counsel Robert Mueller, after a four-page summary from Trump appointee Attorney General William Barr say Mueller's team found no evidence of conspiracy between Donald Trump and the Russian government during the 2016 presidential election season.

    Other locations closed earlier this year in Massachusetts were in Bourne, Gloucester, Ludlow, South Hadley and Westfield.

    Friendly's had 254 restaurants after emerging from federal bankruptcy protection in 2012, according to MassLive. The company, which was founded in 1935 in Springfield, Massachusetts, was purchased by Dallas-based Dean Foods Co. in 2016.

    There are now 224 Friendly's locations across the United States, mainly in the Northeast.
