General Electric Boston Headquarters Approved

GE says it is on track to break group early next year and have a portion of the complex open by 2018.

General Electric is one step closer to beginning construction of its new headquarters in Boston.

According to the Boston Globe, the three-building office complex will be located in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood. It will be 12 stories tall, completely made of glass, and covered with a "sail-like veil" of solar panels.

The board of the Boston Planning and Development Agency approved the new building, however there is one area of concern. The offices will eventually house 800 employees but there will only be 30 parking spaces.

The building has a price tag estimated at $200 million. GE says it is on track to break group early next year and have a portion of the complex open by 2018.
