A child was shot Friday night in Lawrence, Massachusetts, police confirmed.
According to Lawrence Police, a girl under the age of 17 was shot on the 300 block of High Street. Officers responded just after 9 p.m.
She was taken to Lawrence General Hospital before being transported to a hospital in Boston.
Authorities did not have any immediate word on the nature or extent of her injuries.
During the gunfire, a bullet flew into a nearby apartment. No one inside the home was hurt.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office said it was investigating.
