Heat Wave, Humidity to Start the Week

It's a hot and humid end to August

Beautiful weekend weather continues on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and slowly building humidity. Highs will be in the 80s for most except for a few 70s for the South Coast, Cape, and Islands courtesy of a south-southwest wind. It’s that wind direction that will bring back the muggy air gradually.

A spot shower or storm is possible in far Northern and Western New England.

Humidity keeps climbing tonight, with lows in the 60s to near 70.

Temperatures pop to near 90 on Monday with high humidity, and then we actually see low to mid 90s both Tuesday and Wednesday. That will make it a heat wave in some cities and towns.

It’s still very humid during that time, as well, making it feel even warmer than the actual air temperatures. Some relative relief will still be found on the Cape and Islands, where temperatures will mainly be in the 80s.

All of that heat and humidity will be brought in by a southwest wind on the backside of an area of high pressure parked to our south.

We’ll more or less be dry during that stretch, aside from an isolated storm in far Northern New England.

A cold front slides south late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing back more seasonable air late week and into the first part of Labor Day weekend.

A few showers are likely next weekend, but at this point it’s hard to be too specific on exact timing.
