Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms for Thursday Night

Heavy rain, and flash flooding, continues across parts of New England right into tonight. The heaviest and steadiest rain, along with the highest risk of flooding, continues to be found in northern New England.

In southern New England, we’ll continue to see pop up showers, downpours, and even a few embedded thunderstorms tonight, but the activity will be more sporadic. Temperatures will hold steady through much of the night, with some patchy fog as well.

Friday begins on a gloomy and wet note too, with more waves of rain right into midday. By afternoon, the showers will begin to peel away, with sun gradually working in from west to east. Temperatures will climb into the 70s as the wind turns around to the northwest. That will gradually drop the humidity, in addition to clearing us out. By Friday night all of New England, even at the coast where clouds and showers last longest, everyone will be in good shape weather-wise.

Summer also officially begins on Friday, and the first full weekend of summer looks quite nice.

Expect plenty of sunshine on Saturday, with highs in the 70s to around 80. It will be breezy and much less humid. Puffy clouds will develop during the afternoon, and a spot shower or sprinkle is possible over the terrain in particular.

Sunday will be sunny and warmer, with more 70s and even some low to middle 80s. Humidity will be comfortable and we’ll still have a nice northwest breeze.

The nice weather should continue into Monday, before a few more showers return on Tuesday.
