Police Seek Man Who Exposed Himself to Library Patron

Massachusetts police are searching for the man who allegedly exposed himself in front of a patron at the Hingham Public Library Monday afternoon.

Police said a 29-year-old woman was sitting at a table on the second floor of the Leavitt Street library at about 1:30 p.m. when a man who had been sitting on the ground nearby exposed himself.

"For a nice library like this, that's pretty disgusting," patron John Rosemund said. "I see a lot of kids here with their mothers."

"It's a cautionary note for parents who drop their kids off at any library in any town," agreed Mark Murphy. "You just never know and you can't be too safe, and it's a shame."

The woman reported the incident to library officials who called the police.

When the woman returned to the area of the library to get her belongings, police said the man was gone.

The man is described as about 30-40 years old who had been wearing an orange and yellow plaid short sleeve shirt.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Hingham Police Detectives at 781-741-1443.
