Ice Cream in Dot: 5 Places to Enjoy in the Neighborhood!

Warmer temps and longer days, calls for a trip to our local neighborhood ice cream shop!

Chill on Park:
Founded in May 2015, the Zagat-rated Chill On Park has become a stalwart gathering place in the Fields Corner neighborhood, providing not only ice cream but internships, children’s story hours, birthday parties, and valuable employment opportunities and skills for Dorchester’s youth community. Chill On Park strives to ensure that all of the product sold in the shop is locally sourced. All 32 flavors of ice cream are made by Puritan Ice Cream in Roslindale, the coffee is roasted by Karma in Sudbury, and baked goods are provided by Haley House Bakery Cafe in Roxbury. Waffle cones are made in house at Chill On Park, and on Tuesday enjoy an ice cream taco made from these cones! Chill on Park is open Mon – Thurs: 11am-9pm and Fri-Sun: 11am-9pm

Ice Creamsmith
For over 40 years, The Ice Creamsmith in Lower Mills has been churning out delicious made from scratch ice cream! Making their ice cream in small batches on-site – (it goes from production to scoop in as little as 24 hours), the Ice Creamsmith has been delighting generations with their sweet treats! Order up a scoop with candy, cookies, and other treats hand-mixed in! We recommend the sweet cream with Oreos and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! The Ice Creamsmith also makes ice cream cakes, ice cream pies, ice cream sandwiches and even ice cream pizzas! They are open daily 12noon-10pm

Sugar Bowl:
Brigham’s is known as Boston’s favorite ice cream for over 90 years, this Dorchester ice cream parlor serves it just the way you like it! Whether it’s in a cup or a cone, any one of the Sugar Bowl’s multiple flavors of ice cream and smoothies to boot will surely brighten your summer day, or night. If you’re looking for something with an extra kick, try one of the Sugar Bowl’s famous sundaes, banana splits, chocolate chip brownie sundaes, or an original frappe (extra thick please!) This eclectic, homey and cozy parlor, with a very friendly staff, has comfy vintage chairs for you to enjoy your ice cream treats in and has been a neighborhood favorite for the past few years. The smorgasbord of customers creates a strong sense of community and the Brigham’s old fashioned hot butterscotch topping will keep you coming back for more.

J.P. Licks
J.P. Licks has opened its doors at South Bay Mall! This is the 14th location in the Boston area. Featuring homemade ice cream in flavors like Salted Caramel, Mocha Chip, and Vanilla, you can get it in a cone, cup, served up in a sundae, split or sandwich style. J.P. Licks also serves frozen yogurt, sorbet, frappes, smoothies and more! They also do handpicked cakes and pies. J.P. Licks is open 10am-9pm 7 Days a week. This is the ice cream shop’s 14th location!

Sweet Sip:
Sweet Sip is locate at 285 Adams St., near the Fields Corner MBTA stop, and it serves up ice cream, bubble tea, and more. Thai ice cream rolls are also a wildly popular treat from Sweet Sips and can be served in many flavors with many toppings. Fruit tea, milk tea, and smoothies are also on the menu. Sweet Sip makes its own ice cream! Open daily from 11am-10:30pm.
