Jury Deliberations in Trial of Former Mob Boss to Continue Into 4th Day

Jurors in the Francis "Cadillac Frank" Salemme case left the Boston courthouse Thursday without reaching a verdict.

It was their third day of deliberations in the case against a former New England Mafia boss charged with killing a nightclub owner more than two decades ago.

On Wednesday evening, the jury requested the transcripts of the testimony of the prosecution's key witnesses, Robert "Bobby" DeLuca and Joe DeLuca. But because there was so much to send from the DeLuca brothers, the jury only received all of the transcripts just before they left Thursday afternoon.

The two brothers both testified during the trial, saying that they helped get rid of Steven DiSarro's body at the request of the defendant.

Prosecuters say Salemme had DiSarro killed inside his home because he believed DiSarro was a government informant.

DeLuca testified that he had his brother then dump the body near the mill building in Providence, Rhode Island where the remains were discovered in 2016.

The defense has argued that neither brother is credible.

Salemme and his co-defendant, Paul Weadick, are charged in the 1993 strangling of DiSarro. Salemme and Weadick deny involvement in DiSarro's killing.

Salemme headed the New England family of La Cosa Nostra in the early 1990s.

DiSarro's family members said in a statement on Tuesday that the trial has helped provide them closure.

The jury is expected to get back to work on Friday morning.
