Route 1 landmark Kowloon is opening a new tiki bar just in time for summer.

According to Boston.com, the tiki bar will be located behind the existing Saugus, Massachusetts, location and will have room for about 100 people. A limited menu and tiki drinks will be served at the open-air location. The Kowloon food truck will also be parked nearby.

An opening date has not been announced yet, but the owner said he is shooting for in mid-May.

The Kowloon added outdoor seating last year under a tent, but it was only open until 11 p.m. The tiki bar has received approval to stay open until 1 a.m.

Kowloon, which first opened in 1950, is considered to be one of the top-grossing independent restaurants in New England, with a post from restaurantbusinessonline.com stating that it was number 85 in the entire country in 2014.

Kowloon is located at 948 Broadway (Route 1). Its website can be found at https://www.kowloonrestaurant.com/
