We keep the forecast dry this evening with thickening clouds. Temperatures will be much milder overnight thanks to the blanket of cloud cover. The low-pressure system across the Great Lakes slowly heads our way, bringing scattered rain in across northern New England overnight.
A few sprinkles are possible across southern New England then scattered showers through the day with highs around 60 with the southerly wind. The more widespread shower chance for southern New England will be after noon through evening as the cold front approaches.
Northern New England will be rainy all day with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. When the cold front moves through from west to east Friday evening, there is a chance for several downpours and a thunderstorm.
The showers taper off by Saturday morning and we have a beautiful start to the weekend. Highs in the 60s, some low 70s and increasing sunshine are expected Saturday afternoon.
Mother's Day will begin dry, but showers may move in from the south. Southern New England could be soggy Sunday and in the 50s, while northern New England may stay pretty dry and highs in the 60s. Some of the forecast models have shifted the track of the Sunday system, which may mean a drier Mother's Day for everyone so stay tuned.
