Authorities say a member of violent Central American street gang MS-13 has been convicted in the killings of two teenagers in Boston.
Jurors found 22-year-old Edwin Gonzalez guilty of racketeering conspiracy on Thursday. Jurors concluded that Gonzalez participated in the killings of a 15-year-old boy in 2015 and a 16-year-old boy in 2015, both in East Boston.
Gonzalez was one of dozens of members of MS-13 swept up in an indictment unsealed in January 2016.
Prosecutors say Gonzalez and other MS-13 members lured the victims by pretending to be a girl on social media and convincing the victims to meet for a date. Prosecutors say the 2015 killing earned Gonzalez a promotion to full membership in the gang.
An attorney for Gonzalez didn't immediately respond to an email Friday.
