Man Arrested in Connection to Attempted Armed Robbery at Walgreens

Kevin Chappie of Chelmsford attempted to rob Walgreens pharmacy

A Chelmsford, Massachusetts, man is facing charges in conjunction with an attempted armed robbery at a Walgreens in Stoneham.

Kevin Chappie, 35, was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and threatening to commit a crime.

Officers were called to the Walgreens on Main Street Friday just before 7 p.m. After answering a silent 9-1-1 call from a pharmacy worker, police rushed to the scene.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers were greeted by a store employee who was outside frantically waving his arms. The employee immediately reported the attempted robbery and provided an accurate description of the suspect.

Officers searched the area and promptly located Chappie. Chappie was transported to the Stoneham Police Department and held on $10,000 bail.

After speaking with pharmacy workers, police learned Chappie had entered the store seeking a prescription belonging to his girlfriend.

The prescription could not be located. Chappie then walked away before returning with what he claimed to be a gun concealed by a towel. He demanded narcotics, but fled the store after the police were phoned.
