Man Allegedly Assaulted Teacher, 2 Others at Lowell High School

A man arrested outside a Massachusetts high school Monday afternoon is being charged with assault with intent to rape, according to police in Lowell.

Tim Grover of Dracut attacked three people, including a teacher, inside Lowell High School, authorities alleged. Police said they were notified when someone at the scene flagged down an officer.

Grover was arrested outside the school around 4 p.m. Police said he faces charges of assault with intent to rape and assault and battery on a police officer.

School was not yet in session, with the first day of classes scheduled for Tuesday.

The district said it was cooperating with police investigating the "unfortunate incident."

"The police immediately responded after receiving notification that a person had entered the school building and began an investigation," Lowell Public Schools said in a statement. "School leadership notified staff of the occurrence and took the opportunity to re-emphasize safety protocols for maintaining a secure environment."

School officials said that safety would remain a top priority.

Grover is due to appear in Lowell District Court Tuesday. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
