Man Charged With OUI in Lawrence Hit-and-Run

The suspected driver in an overnight hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian has been charged with OUI and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury.

Lawrence police say John Quiceno, 24, of Methuen, was driving through the intersection of Jackson and Essex streets shortly after 1 a.m. when he struck a woman walking in a crosswalk.

The 30-year-old victim was thrown approximately 50 feet. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Lawrence General Hospital. The woman, who has not been identified, was later transferred to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston where she was undergoing surgery for her injuries.

Authorities say Quiceno fled the scene in a black motor vehicle after hitting the victim. Massachusetts State Police quickly located the suspect at the intersection of East Haverhill and Vine streets.

His vehicle had front-end damage and a broken windshield.

Quiceno may face further charges. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
