A Massachusetts man who was drunk when he rear-ended a bread delivery truck in 2012 on Interstate 290, resulting in the death of the driver, has been sentenced to three years in prison.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that 29-year-old Keith Leblanc, of Auburn, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to charges including vehicular homicide while driving drunk and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
LeBlanc struck the truck in the early morning hours of Nov. 11, 2012.
Authorities say the impact forced the bread truck into a guardrail, throwing the driver, 45-year-old Duane Race of Putnam, Connecticut, about 100 feet into the road.
LeBlanc drove away, and police followed a trail of leaking automotive fluids to his house where he failed a sobriety test.
He apologized in court.
