A man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood.

Police said the man in his 80s was struck by a truck in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Newbury Street at about 10:20 p.m.

Christopher Lee Watts was charged with five counts of murder Monday for the deaths of his wife Shanann Watts and their two daughters Bella and Celeste. Watts had initially pleaded publicly that his wife and daughters had gone missing. Their bodies were discovered on the property of the oil and natural gas company Watts worked for. The D.A. said that it's "too early" to discuss whether prosecutors would seek the death penalty.

He was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The driver of the vehicle, a dump truck, did not stop at the scene, but was stopped by officers a short while later.

It's unclear if the driver will be charged.

The crash remains under investigation.

The campers had to drive through the Howe Ridge Fire after it quickly expanded.
