Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing 3 Banks

A New Hampshire man has pleaded guilty to robbing three banks in 2013 in Claremont and Lebanon.

The U.S. Attorney's office said in each robbery, 31-year-old James Oberfeldt wore a dark face mask and carried an air pistol that appeared to be an automated handgun.

He was identified after being arrested in Massachusetts in December 2013 on a traffic stop. Police said they found an air pistol, dark ski mask in his car.

The One Credit Union and Claremont Savings Bank in Claremont and the Lake Sunapee Bank in Lebanon were robbed.

Oberfeldt is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 5.

Separately, 36-year-old Matthew Ireland of Manchester pleaded guilty to robbing a TD Bank in Manchester in January. Ireland, who crashed his car and fled, throwing cash onto the road, faces sentencing Oct. 7.
