Man Arrested on Firearm Charges After Attempting to Flee in Uber

Shaqone Cazeau was arrested after fleeing from police and getting into an Uber

Police say they have arrested a man on firearm charges after he attempted to flee from officers in an Uber.

According to West Boylston police, two officers discovered a breaking and entering of a business on West Boylston Street around 2 a.m. Sunday. They were unable, however, to locate any suspects.

Nearly an hour and a half later, the same officers saw two occupied vehicles in the parking lot of the West Boylston Square strip mall. The mall, which is about a quarter of a mile from where the breaking and entering occurred, was closed.

When the officers entered the parking lot, they say a man got out and fled on foot into a wooded area behind the mall.

According to the officers, they then approached the two men still in the parking lot and asked why they were at a closed mall. The two men from Boston said they were lost. They also claimed they did not know the man who fled.

The two men then left the mall in their vehicles, police said.

An officer saw a man fitting the description of the man who fled earlier getting into a car on Worcester Street a short time later. The man was also in the area where the unidentified man had fled.

The officer stopped the car and identified the man as Shaqone Cazeau, 26, of Boston. The car's driver was an Uber driver, police said.

A K9 was brought in to track from where officers found Cazeau. During the track back to the strip mall, officers found a loaded firearm, mask and gloves.

Cazeau was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm without a license, improper storage of a firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.

He is being held at the West Boylston Police Department's detention area on $10,000 bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Clinton District Court at 9 a.m. Monday.
