Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission Approves 4 More Retail Pot Licenses

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission approved retail licenses for four more recreational marijuana establishments on Thursday.

Temescal Wellness was approved for locations in Hudson and Pittsfield, Northeast Alternatives was approved for a site in Fall River and Theory Wellness was approved for a retail establishment in Great Barrington during a meeting at the Statehouse.

Massachusetts approved of allowing recreational marijuana sales back in 2016.

Pot shops have already opened in Leicester and Northampton, and the first Boston-area location is scheduled to open on Saturday in Salem.

Tax revenue projections from recreational marijuana sales could top out at $80 million this year alone, according to the state's Department of Revenue. However, locals have complained about traffic congestion caused by crowds eager to legally purchase marijuana.
