Massachusetts Launches Campaign to Encourage Seat Belt Use

The state is launching its "Click It or Ticket" seat belt education and enforcement campaign with a special event in Fall River.

The program called "Love Your Mom-Buckle Up" kicks off Wednesday at Durfee High School and is designed to highlight the role mothers can play in getting their young adult sons to buckle up. Research shows that young men are the group least likely to wear seat belts.

The event will also remind young people to buckle up during graduation and prom season.

Guests include the grandfather of Hannah Raposo, a Durfee student who died in an unbelted car crash on prom night in 2016; and state Rep. Alan Silvia, who sponsored legislation that made May Seat Belt Awareness Month.
