Police: Shots Fired at Haverhill Home With Suspect Barricaded Inside

Massachusetts State Police and the Haverhill police department responded late Thursday night to a barricaded woman in Haverhill.

Law enforcement sources said shots were fired on scene.

It's not clear at this time who the barricaded subject is or what started the incident, but it was resolved peacefully, according to police.

Troopers from the Newbury barracks, including Air Wing and K9 units, responded to the Highland Avenue area, according to officials.

Several roads in the area were closed off to all traffic while the scene was active.

A woman who works nearby the area said she is shocked this is happening.

"This is the most quiet neighborhood"Rose McKribben said. "I've never heard of anything like this here before so I am really wondering why, what's going on?"

The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council also responded.

It's not clear if anyone is injured in this incident.

No other information was immediately available.
