Massachusetts State Police Suspend Employee After Finding ‘Payroll Record Irregularities'

A civilian employee of the Massachusetts State Police has been suspended after the discovery of "payroll record irregularities," according to a department spokesperson.

Dave Procopio confirmed Thursday night that the employee was suspended without pay on Nov. 3, pending an internal investigation.

The employee, who works out of the Framingham headquarters, has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

The turmoil at Massachusetts State Police continued Thursday night after the department confirmed a civilian employee had been suspended after the discovery of "payroll record irregularities."

Spokesperson Dave Procopio tells NBC Boston that the employee was suspended without pay on Nov. 3, pending an internal investigation.

The employee, who works out of the Framingham headquarters, has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

A source inside the department says the female worker, who worked in payroll, was escorted out of the office. The source says money may be missing, but that it's not known how much.

It's the latest embarrassing development facing the force. The superintendent and deputy superintendent suddenly retired over the last several days after it came to light that troopers were ordered to alter an arrest report involving a local judge's daughter.

Lawsuits have been filed and the office of Attorney General Maura Healey is investigating to determine if anything criminal may have taken place.

The governor's office has not responded to a request for comment.
