Massive Water Main Break Repaired, Boil Water Order Remains in Effect

The mayor of Brockton, Massachusetts, says that a massive water main break from Wednesday has been repaired, but a boil water order remains in effect for Thursday.

Mayor Bill Carptenter tweeted that crews are still flushing water, which may be discolored but can still be used for all purposes except for drinking.

Schools will be open on Thursday.

Officials say the water main that broke was a transmission line that ran under East Bridgewater but mainly served the communities of Brockton and Whitman.
