Walsh Calls for Pay Raises for Mayor, Boston City Council

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is recommending an increase in the salaries of the mayor and city councilors, according to the Boston Herald.

The mayor's salary would go from $199,000 to $207,000 and councilors' pay would increase from $99,500 to $103,500.

Walsh based the salary increase recommendations on findings from the Municipal Compensation Advisory Board that has been studying compensation for city officials over the past year.

Walsh’s salary was increased by the council from $175,000 to $199,000 in 2015. He did not begin taking the increase until April of this year, his office said.
