A student at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusets, is in the hospital after being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
According to WWLP, a spokesperson from Smith College said that the student lives off campus and is receiving treatment.
The spokesperson said it was unclear if this case is related to last year's outbreak at UMass Amherst.
The college is working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to notify individuals who were in contact with the student.
