Missing 2-Year-Old Located on Hiking Trail in NH

A 2-year-old has been found after he was reported missing amid an intense heat wave Saturday morning.

The toddler's parents contacted police around 10 a.m. Saturday when they couldn't find their son in their home on Erin Drive in Bow, New Hampshire.

Responding officers began a search and rescue, calling for helicopters and K-9 units from local departments and the New Hampshire State Police. Because of the child's age, heat index of 95 degrees and the terrain, the 2-year-old's safety was at risk, police said.

As officials searched for the toddler, a person walking their dog on hiking trails behind Briarwood Drive found the boy. He had wandered about half a mile from his home before he was found at 11:30 a.m., police said.

The toddler was not injured in the incident and was returned to his parents.
