Monumental Market to Open in the Former Monumental Cupcakes Space in Jamaica Plain

by Marc Hurwitz

Last month, we reported that a cupcake shop was closing down and that a new spot would be coming to the space. Now we have learned a bit more about what will be opening there.

Boston Magazine is reporting that Monumental Market is planning to open in the Monumental Cupcakes space in Jamaica Plain, with David Lindsey and Gerly Adrien (Tipping Cow Ice Cream), Javier Amador-Peña (El Colombiano Coffee), and Kelsey Munger (Lavender Bee Baking Co.) being behind the South Street bakery-cafe. The article mentions that the shop will offer ice cream, coffee, cakes, tarts, and more in a nut-free environment and that a few seats will be set up within the space, though it will apparently be more of a grab-and-go type of spot than a place where people can do some work while having food and/or drink. If all goes well, Monumental Market could be opening in the spring.

Monumental Cupcakes closed its doors a few weeks ago after being in business for approximately 10 years; the shop offered cupcakes as well as donuts, birthday cakes, coffee, and tea.

The address for Monumental Market will be 36 South Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
