12 Vehicles Involved in Crash in Brockton

Three people suffered serious injuries in the crash

Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash Friday night on Route 24 in Brockton, Massachusetts, authorities said.

Twelve cars were involved, according to the Brockton Fire Department. Seven of those vehicles were confirmed by State Police.

At least one person was trapped, according to fire officials, and a level one mass casualty incident was declared.

Three people were transported to Boston area hospitals with serious injuries, state police said, and there were additional minor injuries to others but it's unclear at this time how many.

The NBC10 Boston SkyRanger flew over the scene and witnessed at least 10 vehicles involved in the crash.

Cars could be seen scattered up and down the southbound side of the highway, with some appearing to be heavily damaged. Multiple flatbeds lined the road to haul the damaged vehicles away. Debris could also be seen in the road.

People were asked to avoid Route 24 south of Harrison Boulevard in Avon.

There are no charges at this time, according to State Police.

The crash remains under investigation.
