NBC10 Boston Employees Run 2018 Marathon

Three NBC10 employees ran the 2018 Boston Marathon on Monday

Reporters Caroline Connolly and Eli Rosenberg and producer Sara Lombardi trained for months for the 26.2-mile race. Connolly and Rosenberg are part of the Race for Rehab team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

The hospital partnered with the Boston Athletic Association this year as an official charity of the 122nd Boston Marathon. Many of the hospital's staff helped to treat victims of the marathon bombing five years ago.

This year's marathon is the first for both Connolly and Rosenberg. They said going in that they were a bit worried about the windy and rainy weather but they both made it through.

"I think the weather was what we were feeling most anxious about," said Connolly on the bus to the starting line in Hopkinton Monday morning. "But now that it's here, we're going to get through it, we're going to get it done."

"We're fortunate to live in Boston because this is actually all we've trained in," added Rosenberg.

Lombardi is running the marathon on behalf of her friend, Brittany Loring, who founded the Brittany Fund. Loring, who survived the bombings, founded the fund as a way to pay it forward for all the help she received when she was recovering from injuries.

"I'm running on behalf of survivors of other traumatic events who have medical bills, or just need financial and emotional support as they try to overcome their diversity every day," said Lombardi.

Three team members here at NBC10 Boston are preparing to run in the 2018 Boston Marathon, and looking to raise money for good causes along the way.
