NH Man Had Sex With 13-Year-Old He Talked to on Dating App, Police Say

Patrick O'Brien, 51, of Exeter, is facing 18 charges, including sexually assault, child pornography and sex trafficking

A New Hampshire man is facing a slew of charges after police say he used a dating app to exchange sexually explicit images with a teenager and sexually assault the teen.

Patrick O’Brien, 51, of Exeter, was arrested Monday by Manchester police on an active warrant following an extensive investigation, according to a Manchester police statement.

O'Brien is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in Manchester, child pornography and sex trafficking.

The investigation began Sept. 29 when someone known to the 13-year-old contacted police, police said. Through interviews and examining cell phones, authorities said they found that O'Brien got in touch with the teen through a dating app, then exchanged sexually explicit images with them.

Police also said O'Brien paid money for sex.

O'Brien was scheduled to face a judge in Hillsborough Superior Court Tuesday on 18 charges, which include: manufacturing child abuse images, possession of child sex images, dissemination of child sex abuse images, trafficking in persons, felonious sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and certain use of computers prohibited. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
