NH Police Officer Charged With DWI After Allegedly Showing Up to Work Drunk

A New Hampshire police officer was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he he allegedly showed up to work drunk on Tuesday night.

James Patton, 58, of Hampton, an officer with the Hampton Police Department, reportedly arrived at the station for duty around 7:50 p.m. appearing to his co-workers to be intoxicated.

Hampton Police Chief Richard Sawyer called state police to the station to investigate.

Following an investigation, state police arrested Patton for driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released on a summons to appear in Hampton District Court on Aug. 22.

No further information was immediately available.
