Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Greater Boston

A strong storm wreaked havoc in parts of Greater Boston Thursday and flooded the MBTA Forest Hills station and a street in Belmont and caused an accident in Framingham on Route 9.

Belmont officials responded to Pleasant Street and advised motorists to drive slowly as they worked to remedy the flooding.

Traffic stalled westbound of Route 9 in Framingham, near the site of another flood by Route 126.

Water also trickled underground of the MBTA’s Forest Hills station in Boston.

The torrential rain reportedly dumped 1 to 2 inches quickly in several areas.

Flash flood watches were in effect for central Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. In Connecticut, a tree fell onto a house in East Haddam and thousands of homes were without power.
