    New England Towns See Flooding After Torrential Rain

    Roads in Massachusetts and New Hampshire flooded after torrential rain overnight.

    Communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire saw flooding and road washouts late Thursday and early Friday as torrential rain pummeled the region.  

    Flooded roads were reported in Plymouth, Massachusetts, which was slammed with 5.7 inches of rain early Friday. No injuries were reported. 

    Flooding was also reported in Swansea, New Bedford and Mattapoisett. 

    A flood warning was in effect for Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod, until midmorning Friday.

    Flooding was reported Thursday night in the towns of Hebron, Groton, Rumney, Canaan, Orange and Plymouth after several inches of rain fell in the area in a short amount of time and washed out many roads.

    New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jennifer Harper says staff will be out Friday in affected communities doing damage assessment.

    Officials are expected to assess damage to roads and see if any homes have been affected. Up to 40 homes are expected to be checked.
