New FBI File Reveals Disgraced Cardinal Bernard Law Received Death Threats

A disgraced cardinal, once considered for a presidential appointment, received death threats, according to a report in The Boston Globe today.

Cardinal Bernard F. Law, who resigned over his handling of sexual abuse allegations against Catholic priests, faced many death threats in the 1980s, according to a newly released FBI file.

The file also indicates that Law, who was known to be in close association with President George H.W. Bush, was also a candidate for a presidential appointment in Bush's administration in 1991.

Law died in December 2017 at the age of 86.
