Shooting Deaths Outside Steeplegate Mall in NH Deemed Murder-Suicide: AG

Police said the victims, who were only identified as a man and a woman, were known to each other

The shooting deaths of a man and woman outside a mall Wednesday night in Concord, New Hampshire, have been deemed a murder-suicide, according to attorney general's office.

The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. outside the Steeplegate Mall.

When police arrived they found 22-year-old Alexander Thorne dead at the scene. The other victim, 21-year-old Zoe Desmarais, was taken to Concord Hospital where she later died.

The cause of Desmarais' death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was homicide, the attorney general said.

Thorne's cause of death was deemed a suicide by gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities said there was no threat to public safety in connection with the incident. 

The investigation scene was contained to a specific area of the mall, and the mall remained open during the investigation. 

Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately clear.
