Shelter-in-Place Lifted at 3 Newton Schools Amid Search for 3 Suspects

A search for three suspects who fled from the scene of a crash on Interstate 90 in Newton, Massachusetts, Friday morning has ended with no results, according to police.

Newton police said local shelter-in-place orders, which had affected three nearby elementary schools, were lifted after noon despite the suspects not being found.

Law enforcement officials are asking neighbors to report any suspicious activity in the area.

State police troopers were seen searching neighborhoods with K9s near the scene after the suspects fled from the crash on the exit 16 ramp in Newton.

Newton police tell NBC10 Boston the car involved in the exit ramp crash was also involved in a hit-and-run in Boston on Thursday. Multiple officers from Billerica were also seen on the scene.

Identities or descriptions of the suspects were not immediately provided.
