RMV Services Won't Be Available Until Tuesday in Mass.

There will be no RMV services from Friday evening until Nov. 12

Registry of Motor Vehicle services won't be available for several days in Massachusetts as the department upgrades its decades-old technology system.

Beginning Friday evening, all RMV services will be unavailable until Tuesday at RMV service centers and RMV contact centers as well as AAA offices.

The registry said credit card transactions will not be available after 4:30 p.m.; car safety and emissions inspections will not be available after 6 p.m.; online transactions and self-service phone transactions will be unavailable after 4:30 p.m. and external interfaces for driver or car services will be inaccessible after 6 p.m. Friday.

In addition, RMV offices at Haymarket and Roslindale in Boston and in Watertown, Revere, Braintree, Danvers, Lowell and Worcester will close at 4 p.m. Friday.

"We appreciate the public’s patience, cooperation, and understanding as the RMV completes its transition to a new platform that will greatly enhance the quality and number of online vehicle transactions available to our customers,” said Jamey Tesler, the RMV’s acting registrar.

Offices will reopen at regularly scheduled times on Tuesday, following the Veterans Day holiday, according to the RMV.
