A Massachusetts woman was killed in a head-on crash Thursday afternoon, state police said.
A trooper responded to the scene of the crash on Old Turnpike Road in Oakham, where the trooper found that a 21-year-old Franklin man who had been driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla had apparently lost control of his car and hit a 2015 Honda CRV that had been traveling in the opposite direction.
The crash killed a passenger in Corolla, who has only been identified as a 21-year-old woman from New Bedford.
The 51-year-old woman who was driving the Honda and her passenger, an 81-year-old man, were taken by an ambulance to UMass Worcester with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota was also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
Their current conditions are unclear.
The name of the deceased woman has not been released pending family notification.
Police say they believe speed played a role in the crash.
