Officials: Man From Canada Tried to Buy 100 Guns in NH

Officials say Nana Baffoe entered the U.S. from Canada at a border crossing on May 18

A 62-year-old man from Canada was arrested after trying to illegally buy guns in New Hampshire, according to the Department of Justice.

Officials say Nana Baffoe entered the U.S. from Canada at a border crossing on May 18. A few days later he met with a firearms dealer in Nashua and sought to buy 100 handguns.

Under law, a firearms dealer can only sell guns to a resident of the state in which the dealer is located.

Officials say Baffoe filled out paperwork falsely stating he was a resident of New Hampshire and presented a cashier’s check in the amount of $30,500.

Baffoe has been detained pending a hearing on June 1.
