PD: Teen Crashes Car Into Icy Swimming Pool in Uxbridge

Rescue officials responded and both 17-year-old girls were safely removed from the vehicle

A 17-year-old girl and her teen passenger are safe after crashing into an icy swimming pool in Uxbridge, Massachusetts Wednesday morning.

Uxbridge police say the crash happened just before 7:30 a.m. at 8 Easy St. The car was traveling north on West River Road before the crash, hitting a utility pole and a few trees before running through a fence and into the water.

Rescue officials responded and both 17-year-old girls were safely removed from the vehicle, thanks in part to homeowner Muhammed Alomar who helped pull them out.

"You have to do what you have to do as a human being," Alomar said. "It could be your kids in that water."

Both refused treatment at the scene. It took crews three hours to pull the submerged Lexus out of the water.

Uxbridge police are trying to see if weather played a factor, but said the accident appears to be the result of inexperience.
