Strong Winds Blow Piece of Building Onto Car in Boston

An area of Boylston Street in Boston has been closed down after debris was blown off of a building by strong winds Friday afternoon.

Fire officials said Boylston Street was closed from Ross Way to Kilmarnock Street until further notice while Boston Inspectional Services conducted an investigation.

Authorities said debris from the building landed on a vehicle below, damaging its mirror.

No injuries were reported.

The owner of the building issued a statement following the incident.

"Our first priority is the safety and security of residents, visitors and those passing through the area. We are working with our structural engineers and construction team to assure that the rest of the façade is secure," read the statement.
