Josh Gordon Breaks His Silence, Issues Statement on Recent Suspension

Josh Gordon has kept a low profile since returning to the New England Patriots this summer, but the veteran wide receiver broke his silence Friday.

Gordon posted a statement to Twitter addressing the issues with substance abuse he's dealt with for "quite some time."

"Unfortunately, I did not take the time to focus on a solution to the problem until this past year," Gordon wrote.

Gordon missed all of the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to suspension for repeated violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy and was suspended indefinitely last December.

The NFL reinstated Gordon in mid-August, though, and the 28-year-old is on track to play for the Patriots in Week 1.

"I am eternally grateful for the constant support of the NFL, NFL (Players Assocation) and the Patriots organization," Gordon wrote, adding that he won't be discussing the "details of (his) past" going forward.

Gordon clearly wants to turn the page entering a new season, and he can do that by staying on the field for the entire 2019 campaign, something he hasn't done since his rookie year in 2013.
